Transformers opens Moscow Film Fest with Linkin Park
For the first time, a Hollywood film, Michael Bay’s Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon in 3D will open the 33rd Moscow International Film Festival.
The Russian festival will feature the third installment of the trilogy as a world premiere scheduled for June 23.
Starring Shia LaBeouf (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps), Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson returning, model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Patrick Dempsey (Valentine’s Day) and John Malkovich (Reds), as well as Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich. Hugo Weaving and Leonard Nimoy also lend their voices.
This final film in the trilogy finds the Autobots in a battle with Decepticons when a Cybertronian spacecraft is uncovered on the moon.
The sci-fi adventure will release around the world June 29-July 1, with Japan following on July 29.
Following the premiere, Linkin Park will play a special free outdoor concert at Vasilyevsky Spusk in Red Square, while on a European tour.
The band is likely to perform the two songs, including “Iridescent” (the end title song of Transformers).
In addition to films in competition, the Moscow festival will present a Werner Herzog retrospective and a tribute to the influential American director, Sam Peckinpah with Kathryn Bigelow, Michael Mann, Takeshi Kitano and Park Chan-wook.
